According to US

This episode opens with Mick & Joey surfing. They come out of the water, and Joey has an argument with a guy who calls him "long board". Mick (looking quite the hunk in his surf outfit unzipped the waist, bare chest showing) breaks up the argument by pulling Joey away. Joey tells Mick, "That dude's got a collection of Joey's greatest hits coming his way!" to which Mick tells him, "Let Karma get him." Reviewer laughs out loud, and we are off on another adventure.

Mick & Joey meet up with two ladies for a date. They are walking toward Mick's car discussing what they are going to do on their date, when Mick yells out and runs to his car, which is in the process of being hooked up to a tow truck. He starts to yell at the driver that he is legally parked, when a cop pulls up and arrests him. He tells him there is a warrant out for his arrest.

Next, we see Mick being escorted into the police station, his hands still in cuffs. What appears to be the chief asks the arresting officer if he knows who he has brought in. Mick lets out this little whimpering "Help" as the cop explains that he knows who Mick Barrett is, and his name is in the computer for 612 outstanding parking tickets. Mick yells incredously, "612!" as Joey runs into the station out of breath. Mick asks Joey if he has received any parking tickets, Joey replies, "No, I ran all the way here." We then learn that the cop who arrested Mick (Jurgenson)  went to the same police academy with Mick, and has a grudge against him. The chief then calls Jurgenson out of the office. He comes back in and tells Mick there is a mistake in the computer, he didn't get all the tickets. The computer showed he received all the tickets in one day, today. He releases Mick.

Mick and Joey go to get Mick's car from the impound. They learn that Jurgenson had the car transferred over for public auction.  Mick and Joey catch up with Sgt. Jurgenson, who denies the transfer. He tells Mick that he never liked him, but he didn't do it. He leaves in his car, and the tow truck pulls up with Mick's car, bringing it back. The tow truck driver tells Mick he is just doing his job, and he was told to bring the car back, he doesn't know why.

A station wagon is shown screeching by Jurgenson in his patrol car. Jurgenson turns around and races after the car. He manages to pull the car over, the driver gets out and tells Jurgenson he is a cop - then pulls out a gun and shoots him.

Back to Mick and Joey, they are trying to start Mick's car. Joey gets out and pops the hood, then tells Mick to come and take a look. There is a toy bomb sitting on top of the engine with a sign on it that says "Boom! You're dead". Mick gets the car started and goes back to the police station looking for Jurgenson. As he is asking his whereabouts, the chief comes up and tells Mick and Joey that Jurgenson is dead. (reviewer note: throughout this episode Jurgenson's name keeps changing, at this point they go to calling him Jorgensen -with an O- and then later, back to Jurgenson -like the lotion, but Jergens-not Keri <wink> )

Mick and Joey go with the police to the scene of the shooting. Mick's cell phone rings and Joey answers. The man who shot Jurgenson is on the line, and tells Mick he is an old friend. He then tells Mick, 'I pulled a thorn out of your side." "What thorn was that?" replies Mick. The caller says, "Sgt. Jurgenson. I never did like that SOB myself" Mick then tells him, "Maybe I can pull a thorn out of your side one day. Why did you kill him?" The caller says he did it for Mick. Mick tells him he'd like to thank him in person so he can shake his hand. The caller agrees to meet Mick at Sunset Cove in a 1/2 hour, and Mick must be alone. Joey tells Mick he will be killed if he goes. Mick explains that the caller could have already killed him, he proved that with the car earlier. Mick tells Joey to come and watch his back.

Mick is then shown standing on the beach alone. Joey is up on the cliff hiding in the bushes, watching with binoculars. He is wired to Mick. Mick's cell phone rings, and it's the killer. He tells Mick he is canceling their meeting since his brother is in the bushes. Mick starts to yell for Joey and run toward where he is, and by the time he gets there Joey is gone. Mick then goes to Gordon's. He tells Gordon he believes Victor MaGregor has Joey. MaGregor killed Mick's former police partner Jeff. He tells Gordon and Fritz the story of how that happened, and we get to see Rick in a cop uniform! Yum! Gordon explains that when he worked for the CIA, MacGregor worked for him as a bounty hunter. (Reviewer Ahas! outloud, Gordon worked for the CIA! Wait, Gordon worked for the CIA??) Gordon helped Mick put MacGregor in jail when his partner was killed. (ok, but that still doesn't explain how Mick knows Gordon to begin with)

We now see Joey with his hands tied. MacGregor tells him he is going to make Mick pay for taking away his dignity and freedom. He then calls Mick, and tells him to relax -Joey is okay for now and they set up another meeting. He demands that there better not be any cops, or any Gordon. Fritz begs Mick to call the police, Mick refuses.

Mick and MacGregor meet. Mick asks where Joey is. MacGregor replies "Baby Barrett couldn't make it." Mick then asks MacGregor what he wants. They argue, then struggle a bit and Mick gets Mac's gun away from him. Mac tells him to go ahead and shoot him; Mick demands to know where Joey is. Mac tells him to look inside his coat. Inside are Polaroid pictures of Joey with a bomb strapped to his chest. Mac tells Mick if he is not back in 10 minutes, the bomb will go off. (reviewer is loving the location of this scene, as they are outside next to the ocean, and the wind is blowing Mick's-or should I say Rick's hair quite awesomely. Makes up for the awful Hawaiian shirt) Mac then demands that Rick lie face down in the grass (another reviewer mental note: love Rick in this position also) and then he knocks him unconscious. He stands over Mick and states, "You were always so predictable." He goes home and calls an airline to confirm his reservation. Joey is listening. Joey then asks where his brother is, to which Mac replies, "Probably rinsing out his underwear by now." Joey tells him that Mick will not give up looking for him, and Mac agrees that Mick is annoying that way -but that he'll find Joey soon enough. He holds a knife to Joey's cheek.

Mick is shown going into the police station and tells the chief that he knows who killed Jorgensen, Jurgensen (whatever the guy's name is) -it was Victor MacGregor and that he now has Joey. The chief tells Mick that MacGregor died in a prison riot. He also tells him that there are a 1/2 dozen witnesses that heard him threaten to kill Jurgenson. He then shows him the murder weapon, a gun. Mick says, "Let me guess, my prints are all over it." Mick explains that Mac set him up, and that they have to find Joey before it's too late. Joey then walks into the police station. The police think Joey has made up the kidnapping plot to help out his brother. The cops go to transfer Mick to another station, Mick gets away with Joey in a stolen cop car.

They go to the house where Joey was held. It is a mess. Mick says it looks like Joey's room. Mick finds the phone and plugs it in and hits redial. The last place Mac called was a business that arranged charter planes, helicopters and boats. Mick finds out that Mac has a helicopter reserved and it's scheduled to take off in 10 minutes. Mick and Joey race over to the air park and find Mac waiting. Mac states he is touched that Mick came to see him off, and hits him in the face with his briefcase. (reviewer yelling at the tv -NO! Not the face!) Joey goes to grab him, and he tosses Joey over the side of the cliff. Mick and Mac struggle (lots of Tae Kwon Do moves by Rick here) but then Mac punches Mick out (again, in the face!) Joey then climbs up from the side of the cliff as the helicopter is flying over and grabs Mac and clocks him and knocks him out also. The police then show up.

Mick and Joey are now shown laying on the beach. Reviewer notes no bruises on Mick's face, considering he was just hit in it 5 minutes ago. Mick is talking to Gordon on the phone, Gordon is explaining that Mac switched his dental and medical records with a prisoner who was killed in the riot. He offers Mick and Joey a trip away, Mick turns him down but then thanks Gordon for his help. He hangs up and Joey says, 'It must've felt good to kick that Barney's butt twice in one lifetime." Mick says, "Yeah, but not as good as getting you back." Pause. They both go, "Aaawwwee" and Mick hits Joey in the arm. Their dates from earlier then show up and ask what happened. Mick says he had car trouble. Joey swears he was tied up, really! The dates tell them to just go wax their boards and walk off with two other guys. The show fades out to them surfing again.

I actually liked this episode despite the few flaws I found throughout it, and the sucky wardrobe (yet again). 4 waves. - Michelle P.

This episode starts out with a very nice shirtless scene on Mick's part, which reminded me that the first season was nicely filled with some beefcake. I think the second season was even more, but I don't remember. The third season had virtually none, yet it was my favorite season. What's up with that?
We get to witness Rick/Mick in handcuffs during this episode not once, but twice - and that's all I'm going to say about that.
When Mick was in the police station being booked, he was asked for his date of birth, but then they got interrupted, so he never answered that question. That would have made a very nice trivia question. We do know that Mick celebrated his 35th birthday during the 1st season and that he was 10 years older than Joey (we find out about the age difference in this episode).

In the flashback to where Mick was a cop - not loving the hair

I loved Mick's escape from the police station where he dove head first through the open window of the vehicle with his butt hanging out of the car. Nice butt!
And of course you gotta love the line by Joey to Mick "what are you, Houdini?" (flash ahead 10 years to EFX - no he's not Houdini but he will portray him in a Vegas show, that Yannick Bisson actually went and saw - ain't life funny).

I also found it fascinating that after Mick got arrested (for the parking tickets), in front of their potential dates, the girls still wanted to go out with them. Now mind you, I know a certain someone also got arrested and I don't think any of us would turn him down for a dinner date, BUT this was like a first date thing and it wasn't clear what he got arrested for.

I liked this episode also. I'll go along with the 4 waves. - rlh
I have to start by saying could they have opened up the show with a more lovely scene?! Mick is seen walking the beach with Joey, just after surfing, and the top half of his wetsuit is unzipped and hanging down around his waist. Yep…hairy chest, fully exposed, bare feet, and his hair is all wet. Now THAT is a nice start to any High Tide! I barely even realized what type of dialogue was going on here. I had to rewind it a few times and `force' myself that `this time' I would really listen to what was being said. Ok, it took more than one try to get this accomplished! The guy who'd been out surfing with Joey wasn't hard on the eyes either, but he acted like a jerk. With an opening scene like this, I couldn't help but be pulled into the story.

The guys have a double-date and they walk the beach, holding hands with their said dates. The guys make promises of a romantic date, but when they arrive, a tow truck is loading up Mick`s Caddy. He is furious, and likely embarrassed, as the girls are watching the whole thing with a critical eye. Mick's high pitch and arguing with the wrecker man was hysterical! Another cracking up moment (mainly because of Mick's tone of voice and his facial expressions) is when he runs over to a cop for help and the cop cuffs him. Mick says, "you're ARRESTING me??" (high-pitched voice again) The cop says, "oh you're sharp Barrett." I will admit, this particular Hawaiian shirt is not too bad on Rick/Mick. The colors look great on Rick, but the pattern is a bit crazy. But then…the light blue jeans make up for the shirt! I also couldn't help but chuckle as Mick was being arrested. Not that I wish anything bad on Mick, but his shock was funny. As the cop shoves him into the back seat he says, "what the hell is going on here?!" The scene at the police station is comical too, I thought. Mick is not going easily. The cop is man-handling & prodding him along. As Mick goes into the interrogation room he squeaks out, "Help! Ow!"

Mick and the cop go into the room and shortly after, Joey arrives. Mick has learned he's there for parking tickets!!! 612 parking tickets to be exact.

(a computer glitch) So he whispers and asks Joey if he got any parking tickets and Joey says, "no man, I ran all the way here." LOL!!! Now that was funny.
The cop who's typing up Mick's report is funny too with his straight face. He's obviously taking great pleasure in the whole thing. He's so "down-to-business" about it. What a FUNNY look on Mick's face when the cop asks him if Joey is his lawyer. Classic! I had to rewind that one! Jergenson the cop knows Mick from the academy from 15 years ago. Jorgensen has been holding a grudge towards Mick because of a punch Mick gave him back then. The cops end up letting Mick go.

Mick's caddy has been transferred to the auction from the impound lot. Turns out it was Jorgensen who requested the move. Mick is furious and finds Jorgensen to rash him out over the car, and the grudge. Jergensen gives Mick a piece of his mind. He tells Mick that Mick has always had it so easy, "smooth-looking guys" like him (I couldn't agree more on that!) who are so perfect. He tells Mick he didn't like him ever, especially when Mick let his partner take a bullet. Ooooo Mick's anger flares up here and he makes a dive at Jergenson. Joey grabs him to hold him off. Rick is great at 'anger' scenes. As with all of his acting jobs, he totally puts the needed emotion into it.

I liked the slo-mo scene where Jergenson gets shot, just as Mick puts the key in his ignition. The radio blares out and the car stalls. Under the hood he finds a note hooked to a fake bomb that says, "bang you're dead." I thought Mick's line here was cute. He's working under the hood and Joey asks him, "whadda you know about motors?" Mick says, "not much, but I know THIS baby." (and he pats the car) It starts! I wonder if Rick knows anything about working on cars? Joey pleads to drive but Mick won't hear of it. The girls who were going on the date with the brothers walk up. Mick blows them off and tells them "later." They have business to attend to.

I also liked the scene where Joey is making "confessions" to Mick through the earpiece Mick's wearing as he waits on the beach for the bad guy. LOL Joey is afraid Mick's going die, so he's confessing things to Mick from their childhood. He apologizes for the toaster melting Mick's Beach Boys tape. How comical! Joey's watching Mick's back in the bushes above. Mick can't talk back to Joey for fear that McGregor will see him talking to someone.

I thought the flashback to when Mick was a cop was a nice little bonus, giving the viewer a feel for how it was then when Mick was a cop, and why McGregor is so angry towards Mick. Now I generally don't care much for a uniformed cop, but Rick decked out as a cop…I'd have to reconsider!

I found the scene where Mick was fighting McGregor was cool but also odd. When Joey went off the "cliff," where did he go??? That was a bit strange. But hey…it's TV, the magic of TV. I guess he grabbed a hold of a rock jutting out, or maybe a tree limb? Because here comes Joey, right up the side of the cliff, like a stunt man.

I thought this was a pretty entertaining episode. It had several comical parts in it, and I love the scenes where Rick (excuse me…MICK) is fighting. He fights so well, and in High Tide…he's always the hero! - Kelley Pearson
