According to US A top fashion model for the
"Sea Splash" company is attacked and injured. Gordon
calls Joey asking them to go check on her (his Goddaughter). Mick tries to get Joey to say no, but he agrees. When they get
there, they find out about the attack and how there are no suspects
and the husband of the owner expects them to investigate. Mick
figures since they are there, they might as well. He goes
undercover as a person from a camera club and Joey is a waiter, who
later turns model. When the photographer is fired, then killed, Mick
takes his place, kind of funny to see Rick on the other side of the
camera for a change. Mick finds out that Gordon is not the
Godfather (big surprise), but in fact a major stockholder in the
company. We find out that Mick gets his photography knowledge
from his forensic training in the police force. Joey almost gets
blown up when he goes to turn off the alarm of the owners car.
They think the owner's husband was the target. Mick hauls some
ass to save his life. Come to find out, the car bomb was
indeed meant for Joey. The Sea Splash designer was having an
affair with the owner's husband and that when she didn't gain
control of the company, she decided to destroy it by going after the
models. She killed the photographer because he had a side job
as an investigator and he had gotten pictures of them together.
Another case solved. |

| Little waves
that passed by: Hey - someone has been watching Psycho - the opening scene had me wondering if Fritz was going to end up being Mick and Joey's mother :-) Or if the lady in the wheelchair was going to rip off her wig and start calling herself Norman. Sea Splash - LOL - did anyone else think that the tabloids would have surely been calling that company Sea Slash after the whole torrid affair came out? Poor Joey - he was new to the shaving thing...when they did that EXTREME close up when he was in the lycra, he had bumpies on his chest...maybe he was Rick's teacher when EFX rolled around so Rick could avoid the same sad and scratchy fate :-) Continuity issues that make me think someone was sniffing the board wax: The car explosion - now I was glad Mick got to Joey in time, but even had he not, the explosion went straight up - there was no out involved - all the energy in it went skyward - so even if Joey had been standing right there, he'd have maybe gotten a little sun burn, but nothing more. Art Imitating Life in a Rick Sense with a Twist: Rick as a photographer AND an autograph seeker in ONE episode...those loafers were really on the other foot then, no? LOL The line, "Barbie, she's not!" LMAO!! That is an all time classic for sure! Did ya catch that outfit our boy was donning at the party? Was that a rust colored pair or trousers, a grey shirt, and a pink and white striped jacket? If so, I guess we know who was in charge of Rick's wardrobe early in the series P-) Questions that make me wonder if it is really me who is high: Everyone saw this - and I now know I can eat at your houses anytime without worry as you were all also grossed out by the uncouth Fritz eating out of the pot meant for public consumption. Now - were it MY marinara sauce, damn right I'd taste it...but not when serving it to others - that's just nasty, and it along with public toilet seats are how germs get spread! So everyone always mentions how much Barbie puts up with from us fans harassing her husband. What I'd like to know is how she dealt with him being in silicone city for 3 years...thongs, bikinis, boobies - all bouncing! For living through THAT alone she should qualify for sainthood! I LOVED the darkroom (second one) scene. Rick looks so good there - but there was one tiny moment when he kind of reminded me of Brad from Silent Motive - something about the hair and the wild-eyed expression - I thought maybe he was standing too close to the photo developer :-) Favorite Sex on the Beach moments: "I need some sex from you" - I DARE someone (okay, I'll do it) to say that to Rick today and see if he remembers having heard it before - LOL! The "lump of coal" line - maybe it is me, but that is a VERY risqué and quite funny line for one bloke to say to another - LOL! Other than the models running around nekkid, I liked this one a lot. I am not blown away by any of the female acting thus far, but I LOVE the chemistry between Rick, Yannick, and George! I'd love to see a show with just them - I think it would have to be hysterical! - Anna C. |

| The premise is someone is wounding and killing models/photographers for Sea Splash swimwear, so naturally it would make sense to assume they creators are trying to draw in male fans as well. I actually enjoyed looking at the different designs of swimwear, for the first part of the show anyway. Once again borrowing from Baywatch, and the movie psycho, the opening scenes grab your attention, despite a subtle almost porn sounding music playing in the background. Trying to turn Joey into a male swimwear model reminded me a bit of 'Fantasy Island', becoming something you are not, even though it was not his idea. I did really enjoy watching Joey soak up his new image, and once again, he provided some great comic relief. Although it was not realistic to see this in the modeling world of photo shoots, I had a good laugh at watching Joey's facial expressions when he was told to 'make love with your eyes'. It was also fun to watch him stare at his picture of himself and another model. I found the chemistry between brothers Joey and Mick to be much more dynamic. It had an entertaining quality about it and often made me forget that I still do not like Mick's hair and wardrobe. Another thing about Rick playing Mick, is it me or does he tend to mumble? Often I think I hear his voice trailing at the end of his sentences, which drives me bonkers!! I laughed when I heard Mick say 'Redheads' when they were talking about hair color preferences, and I immediately thought of Bobbie from General Hospital. Boy Rick sure has skinny legs! There is not a whole lot more to say about this episode. The rest of the writing was mediocre. The model with the accent drove me nuts, and the storyline seemed rather weak. I predicted how it would end in less than 15 minutes into the show, but having said that, I am ready to watch more episodes!! - Kat Mendelin |

| This was what I'd call a "Joey episode," and I'm sure it was a pleaser for the Yannick fans. It's also a good one for the male High Tide fans, as there are many beautiful swimsuit models---posing, strutting their stuff, etc. The opening scene has a pretty girl in the shower and she's being stabbed. {It sort of reminded me of the "Psycho" shower scene for a second! At one point Mick even calls the attempted murder "a Norman Bates number."} The story is based around Nita Colton…Gordon's "Goddaughter"…who is a fashion model for Sea Splash. She is alive but has been scarred by the stabbing. Gordon appears to be crying on the phone when he calls about the case, but he's actually tearing up because he's cutting onions!! LOL As usual, but it's funny as always, Mick is refusing to work for Gordon. He hears part of the conversation as he leans in beside Joey. He tells Joey, "he's suckering you in!" Mick is flailing his hands around in a `no, no' motion, but Joey accepts the job. The guys go in as undercover's to investigate the near death of Gordon's "Goddaughter." Joey starts out as a poolside waiter, but later becomes a male model. Mick ends up posing as a photographer. The guys see women running everywhere around the pool area at the modeling agency. Joey is eating it up, as probably any red-blooded guy would do. This is one of the funnier sides of Joey's personality in my opinion. He is a legend in his own mind, always hoping to score a date with some chick. Joey cracks me up as he's learning how to be a model. His facial expressions are priceless! He is obviously enjoying all the hugging up on the women and he likes the thoughts of becoming a `star.' Nothing like a scene where Mick is hanging around with his shirt blowing open in the breeze, hair wisping around his face! I like how Mick teases Joey about how `brutal' modeling can be. He finally gets his chance to tease JOEY about wrinkles. Joey looks completely paranoid after Mick leaves, like he's afraid there's some truth to what his brother said. Again…this is a really NICE episode for Yannick fans, as he's showing some `bod' in this one. I do think Joey's a cutie, but in all honesty I'd have preferred to see Mick modeling male swimsuits and flexing it! LOL Joey is built nicely, but he just doesn't `do it' for me like Rick/Mick does! I thought the one scene was comical when Joey is being fitted for some really tight black spandex swim shorts (as the designer says, "see how it compliments the cheeks.") and Mick is standing there making wise cracks. He tells the staff, "a lump of coal can be brought to life by my lens." LOL He smacks Joey on the leg or butt (not sure which…as you can only hear the smack, not see it!) and says, "like I said…a lump of coal." Too funny! Joey is none to pleased with the comment. |

| Another scene I liked is when Mick is shooting photos of Joey and a female model at the beach. (Rick looks like a `real professional' in this scene! Ha!) Joey is fussing…'come on Mick, my feet are killing me!' Later Joey sees a large print of himself and the blonde model (that Mick took) and he's rather impressed with himself! Don't ask me why, but I always like the High Tide explosion scenes. Nothing like a blazing fire to liven things up. (and this episode really needed some `extra' stuff along the way). Joey is nearly blown to pieces by a car bomb, but Mick runs screaming, "JOEY!!!" and tackles him to the ground, safely away from the blast. The brotherly love is so evident between these two. I'm generally not a huge fan of fashion shows, but I liked the scene where Joey and the girls were modeling by the pool. Talk about some `funky' swimwear. It looked more like "bondage" wear to me, with one of the models wearing a partial mask (like the type at a masquerade party) and cracking a leather whip! That's one of the things I've never understood about `high fashion.' It's extremely overpriced and it looks like something you'd never wear. It certainly doesn't look durable OR comfortable. I wouldn't be caught dead in some of these swimsuits! LOL Joey comes out in his black swimwear and dark shades, carrying a model in his arms, flipping her up on his shoulders. He's flexing his muscles, showing off for the clapping crowd and completely unaware of the danger he's in. Thank God for his brother! Mick bursts in and catches the female designer (I don't know her name) just as she's about to stab Joey. Can I just add that I hate those orange/red dress pants Mick was wearing?! UGH. She is waving the knife and fighting Mick. The crowd continues to clap, assuming it's part of the show. I thought it was kind of funny how this woman was about to kick Mick's ass. He pulls off his sports coat and hands it to Joey, then slicks back his hair. It just looked comical, as if he was afraid his hair might get messed up during the fight. Gotta look good when you're fighting a woman, right Mick!? This lady fights like a man, but Mick ends up `taking her down' anyway. This was a pretty decent episode, but not one of my favorites out of season one. I always look forward to the ending scenes with Mick and Joey on the beach, which is usually how they end. Joey is discussing with Mick how he's been thinking about the `modeling thing' and how those chicks were checking him out. He wants to be the next "Cindy Crawford," but the male version of her! Mick tells Joey, "you're Joey Barrett, the brother that I love very dearly. But you're getting a bit too fat-headed for your own good." He grabs him by the ankles, pulling him off the chair and drags him into the ocean. What are brothers for, right?! - Kelley Pearson |
