According to US Yay for Season 2! We have a new intro, of which 3/4 I absolutely love. I could do without seeing Julie Cialini doing her jiggle routine running down the beach. But I love when they get to crediting Rick, the shot they use is an eyebrow wiggle. Season 2 also has better hair & wardrobe. Mick's hair is shorter ( I love this style on him) and Joey's is longer. Gordon and Fritz are no longer in the picture, and it is established right away that Mick & Joey are now running a Surf Shop on the beach. Annie (Julie Cialini) is their employee. There must also be some new writers, as the one liners were hilarious. |

| Susan's husband is getting dressed talking to a deputy sheriff. He puts on his shirt; he is the Sheriff. He gives instructions on his wife's disappearance and assumes she is with her friend Dee Dee. Joey tells the girls that not only are he & Mick surfers, but freelance P.I.'s using Mick's cop expertise. Susan is panicked as she asks Mick if he is a cop, he tells her he used to be. They pass a police car, which does a U-Turn and proceeds to pull them over. We see that the female officer has pictures of Susan & Dee Dee. She walks up and asks Mick for his info and then to step out of the car. Joey jokes to the ladies that it's due to his ugly drivers license picture. Susan gets out of the car and pulls a gun on the officer. Mick is asking her what she and Dee Dee have done. She shoves the cop into her trunk, and tells Mick to stop talking and drive again. Dee Dee now has a gun on Joey. She tells him, "Let's see you laugh in the face of danger." Joey says, "Ha. Ha." They drive away. The next scene shows the Sheriff yelling at the female officer. They are watching the video from her car of what happened. He asks her to see where her errors were made. He then asks for her report. She describes Mick after giving his name as 6' 2", 185 lbs, dark brown hair, blue eyes, nice build. They were driving a '66 Mustang convertible with the license plate High Tide. Back in the car, Mick asks Dee Dee to lighten up on pointing the gun at Joey. "I hit a pot hole and your finger twitches, I'll be an only child." The cops show up at the surf shop and start questioning Annie. They explain they are the police. Annie says, "No kidding. I bet the bad guys never make you two." She tells them she hasn't seen the brothers in 3 days. Mick tells Susan that they need to stop for gas, and Joey admits he needs to use the restroom. They stop at the next gas station and Susan follows Joey out of the car. Joey asks her what she is doing and she tells him that wherever he goes, she goes. He says, "I'm a guy. Guys don't go in pairs." Susan says, "You'll be a trailblazer." While they are gone Mick tries getting info out of Dee Dee. She doesn't give him anything, but tells him they just need him to take them where they want to go. Joey & Susan, finished in the bathroom do some shopping in the party store. Joey insists on getting burritos, and then flirts with the cashier. |

| Back on the road, Joey distracts Dee Dee with the food and then steals her gun. Mick moves at the same time and swipes Susan's and then pulls the car off to the side of the road. He demands answers. Susan runs away, screaming, "I won't go back there." She dives into the water and Dee Dee yells for Mick & Joey to save her. As they pull her out of the water they see that her back and sides are all bruised. As she is getting dried off, Dee Dee tells Joey "This time he was gonna kill her." Joey asks, "This time?" She explains it is Susan's husband. Susan's mother died and she wanted to go to her funeral and he wouldn't let her. She tells Joey she appreciates them "being cool." Mick tries to get Susan to tell him what's going on and why she didn't call the police. Susan confesses that her husband Richard is the police, he is the Sheriff of Carleton County. Mick calls the Surf Shop and Annie asks him where they are. He says that he & Joey decided to go North for a few days and asks her if she will work this weekend. She agrees. Mick hangs up and he & Joey decide that the cops are there. They stop at a roadside motel and Mick calls a doctor for Susan. He then calls his "cop friend" (that's what they refer to her as) Samantha. She has heard about what happened earlier with the female officer, and he asks her to find out info on the Sheriff. After the doctor examines Susan, Mick assures her that he & Joey will look after her. She tells him they are sweet. Samantha calls Mick back later and tells him that Richard's first wife died from a fall down the stairs. They all go to bed -the guys in one room, the girls next door. During the night Richard sneaks in and takes Susan. In the morning... Mick & Joey are sleeping in boxers (woo hoo! I'm loving the wardrobe so far) and look out the window and see police cars in the parking lot. Joey opens up the back window and Dee Dee is there telling him that Susan is gone, Richard must've found her. Mick & Joey get dressed (darn) and sneak out the back window. We see Susan in the back of Richard's patrol car. She is newly bruised on her face and is handcuffed. Richard is yelling at her and telling her that Dee Dee is going to be charged with her kidnapping and is going to jail. He asks her who the guys were, and if she slept with Mick. She lets him believe that she did (wouldn't you?). He turns furious and pulls over the car to beat her some more. Mick, Joey & Dee Dee catch up to them. Mick starts yelling that he killed his first wife. Susan is shocked, she knew nothing about a first wife. Richard tells them that he will say all 3 of them were trying to kidnap Susan and he was forced to kill them. As they are arguing, Joey sneaks over to the police car and turns on the camera. There is then a struggle and some kicks & punches thrown between Mick & Richard. Susan gets the gun, and points it at Richard ready to shoot him. Mick talks her out of it, and then Joey tells everyone he turned the camera on. The Sheriff looks defeated. Back to the beach, Mick's voice over says that he & Joey testified against Richard. Susan went to live with her father. Annie delivers mail to Joey, it is a postcard from Dee Dee. She has become a Flight Attendant. Two girls walk by, and ask Joey for surf lessons. And so another episode ends... - Michelle P. |

| May I just start off reviewing this episode by saying…Thelma & Louise?! It's uncanny how many similarities there are between Personal Property and the classic movie Thelma & Louise. Ok, so I've seen that movie probably 49 times, as I own it and also watch it every time it's on TV as well, if I happen to catch it on. Some points I noticed in this episode that are very much like the movie--- *Two attractive women are on the run & we see them doing a bit of gun-slinging, just as the girls in Thelma & Louise did. *The hubby (Susan's husband) discovers his wife has left home without his knowledge. *Hubby thinks his wife's friend `kidnapped' her (that she's a bad influence…just as Thelma's guy thought Louise had coersed her into going along) *The hitch hiking moment. Except on High Tide, it's the gorgeous guys (Mick Barrett & brother Joey) picking up the girls, rather than the girls picking up that gorgeous guy. (Brad Pitt, the hitchhiker…who was also trouble, as these girls seem to be) *The `hitchhikers' are riding along in a convertible, chatting it up with the guys. (reminds me so much of the scene in the movie when Thelma & J.D. were getting acquainted, while Louise remained neutral. Joey's doing all the talking in this one while Mick drives & mostly listens.) *The police back `home' at High Tide question Annie & then run a trace on the phone without Mick realizing it as it happened. It then occurs to them that the cops must be there, because of the conversation Mick had with Annie on the phone. (Similar to the movie when the cops set up camp at Thelma's house and involve her husband, eventually running a trace.) On a side note here: I don't care much for the character of Annie. For some reason, she seems like such a fake bimbo to me! *And then, one of the biggies here…one of Mick's hitch hiking girls (Susan) breaks out a gun, holds a female cop at gunpoint and demands she get in the trunk of her squad car. They make a run for it. Sound familiar? Except in HT the cop didn't crawl out of the trunk stoned from a passing cyclist who shared a few puffs through the bullet-air hole in the trunk lid. LOL! A tad different, but somewhat the same. I love that adorable half smile & eye batting Mick gives the female cop when she pulls them and she first walks up to the car. *sigh* He is being such a gentleman to the cop, calling her by name (So, what did we do Officer Hanson?) likely hoping to charm himself right out of a ticket. Yep, if I had been that cop, I think that smile would've changed my tune in a hurry. He gets out of the car and they walk towards the squad car. Mick is chatting with the cop, explaining that the ladies had car trouble and they were simply giving them a lift. Suddenly, all `hell' breaks loose. Susan slips up with a gun, barking orders and making Mick unlock the trunk of the police car. The cop asks, "You're gonna lock me in the trunk?" And Mick says, "You've seen way too many movies." Ah ha! Could that have been a jab at the movie Thelma & Louise? Kinda funny he said that right at that moment. Indeed, she does lock the woman in the trunk, after shooting several air holes in it. Well, since Gordon is not around in season 2, it seems the guys find trouble on their own now. (I miss Gordon!) See what doing a good deed will get ya? Actually, Joey saw the girls on the side of the road and thought they were hot babes…his main reason for asking Mick to stop. I think he was looking out for himself this time! I couldn't help but laugh out loud when the Sheriff finds the female cop in the trunk and he then drills her about the incident. Most of the scene is on video tape taken from her car, along with the license plate number of Mick's Mustang. He rashes her out about how easily she let a `civilian' take away her weapon. He then asks her for a description of the driver. The cop was obviously checking Mick out (but of course!) as she added---"Nice build" to her description! But what I found especially odd…she referred to Mick Barrett as having dark hair and blue eyes. Huh?! Maybe she DID get a puff of something in the trunk! Because Rick's/Mick's green eyes are a LONG way from being blue!!! I thought Mick was looking pretty hot in the scenes where he speaks alone with Dee Dee and tells her she didn't look `too comfortable with a gun.' He tries to pick her for information, but she won't budge. I must say, I didn't think I'd like Rick's hair quite this short for season 2, but it's grown on me. I prefer his hair a little longer, but really….the man rarely ever looks bad. :-P Short hair, long hair, whatever! It works for me! Mick and Joey end up turning the situation around on the girls while in the car when Mick takes over Susan's gun. He demands answers. I just love his mad faces! LOL! But then Susan jumps out of the car and takes off running across the beach. Mick grabs a hold of her and wants to know what she's running from. She takes off into the ocean, attempting to drown herself. Mick rescues her (nothing like our hero Mick saving the day!) and pulls her to the shore. The guys see that her torso is covered in bruises. Later, Mick is trying to get a `thank you' out of her, but she tells him she is not grateful to him. I think this is a sweet Mick scene & he's looking awesome here with his kind faces and hair still a bit wet from the rescue. He's attempting to comfort her & get her to open up to him. Meanwhile, Dee Dee and Joey are walking the beach and she tells Joey of the abuse Susan's been getting from her husband & how frightened she is of Richard. Eventually Susan talks to Mick & tells him that her husband is the police (which of course makes it difficult to get him convicted for his abuse). The guys find a motel to stay at for the night. (The "Turf Motel.") Mick calls Sam at the police station and asks her to dig up info on Richard Davis, the sheriff at Carlton Bay (Susan's husband). Mick gets Susan settled in for the night after having a doctor come out to the motel and check her over. They're sitting on the edge of the bed talking and I swear for just a moment there I thought the two were going to kiss! But considering Susan's current situation, I'm glad they didn't create a romance between the two. I like that they left it as it was, and that Mick showed care and concern for her (rather than `lust!` lol) Mick tells her not to worry about hubby, that he and Joey will take care of her now. She smiles and says, "He's great. So are you." Shortly after, Mick is back at his room and Sam calls to inform him that the FIRST Mrs. Davis died by falling down a flight of stairs. Sounds fishy! |

| During the night, Susan gets up to take the medicine the doctor left for her. Her psycho husband is hiding in the shower. He grabs her from behind, clamping his hand over her mouth &
stifling any screams…so as not to wake Dee Dee. The next scene has got to be my favorite scene, visually speaking! We are `treated' to some shots of Mick and Joey lying in bed the next morning, partially uncovered, with Mick's beautiful chest bearing itself…nothing on but some black underwear. A scene with Mick in his underwear??! I'm there! If only the scene lasted a tad bit longer…or if the footage had been a bit closer in! NICE! Boxers or briefs? Well in this case…snug fitting boxers! Ok, where was I?! Richard has snatched Susan and as they're driving along he's jabbering off about how her friend Dee Dee is being charged with kidnapping and will be put away for `a long, long time.' He tells her that her buddy Mick is an ex-cop and asks if she slept with him. They didn't, but she doesn't tell him otherwise. She leads him to believe that maybe they did. She says something about wanting to know what it'd be like `to be touched by a real man.' (Yep, that would be Mick/Rick! LOL) He screams to the backseat, "I'll KILL YOU!" She appropriately tells him, "You already have." Richard gets angry and he pulls over and begins thrashing her around, slapping her across the face. Mick, Joey and Dee Dee arrive just in time, right behind the two (thankfully so, but how convenient was that?!). Mick whips off the road and jumps out, getting in the middle of it. Susan and Richard scuffle and she elbows him and runs behind Mick for protection. Richard starts trying to intimidate Mick, saying he knows all about his past record as a cop. Mick sarcastically says, "When I was a kid, I took two years of tap too." :-P Mick brings up Richard's first wife. Susan doesn't have a clue what Mick is getting at. So Mick tells Richard, "Tell her. Tell her about the 1st Mrs. Davis." Richard says, "She died," in which Mick replies, "No. You killed her." Meanwhile, Dee Dee & Joey have slipped out of the car, gun in hand. Richard has had enough talk. He points the gun at Susan & Mick and tells them how this is all going to `go down,' leaving him looking like the innocent victim. He demands for Susan to come to him, but Mick catches him off guard and kicks the gun from his hand. GO Mick! He's such a bad ass…that Mick Barrett. LOL! I love how well that man can fight. He pins Richard on the ground. Susan gets the gun from Dee Dee and is on the verge of shooting Richard when Joey and Mick tell her it's a bad move. After all, the whole thing is caught on video tape from Sheriff Davis' police car! Mick tells Susan, "You don't have to be afraid of him anymore." Crying with relief, she gives up the gun and hugs onto Mick. Joey looks down at Richard and says, "Smile for the camera Sheriff." Another mission accomplished and the guys are back riding the waves. Mick is narrating at the end explaining that Susan got off on probation for assaulting an officer & Richard is going to jail for a long time. Susan moved away from Carlton Bay and went to live with her dad. Mick teases Joey over a letter he got from Dee Dee saying she had `met someone.' Joey just KNEW that he and Dee Dee were meant to be together. He's stunned! Mick is cute here, telling Joey, "Like you were destined to be together, right? Star-crossed lovers, kinda Romeo and Juliet thing." Joey is saying, "Yeah, exactly!" Mick says, "If you can't have Dee Dee, no one else in the world for you." Joey agrees. Then Mick spots two bikini-clad women walking along behind them and says, "Too bad." Joey, looking confused--"Huh?" Mick casually says, "So one of them had your name written all over them. I guess I'll have to handle the both of them." (HA!!!) Joey won't hear of it! He hops over the wall and speaks to the girls. They flirt it up with him, asking for surfing lessons. And of course, Joey walks off arm in arm with the both of them, leaving Mick to run the store. - Kelley Pearson |
